After the Mehendi Ceremony and Cricket matches, all the wedding guests enjoyed a nice lunch and had a couple of hours of rest before the Sangeet that night began. Now, for those of you that don’t know, a Sangeet is a joyous occasion where the family and friends of the couple perform dances to celebrate the upcoming wedding.
I just want to go ahead and start with the fact that both the Bride and Groom rode in on carriages pulled by horses. I am going to go ahead and vote that every wedding needs to have carriages and horses from this day on. When I said it was a joyous occasion, I was not lying. Everyone gathered in the streets to welcome both Hitha and Sri and the smiles and dancing could not have been more rejuvenating.
It was absolutely incredible (I’ve been saying this a lot about this wedding).
After the couple rode in on separate carriages, they carried on the tradition of fighting in Mortal Kombat. I am kidding, but something did happen where they have to compete to see who can put a flowered “necklace” on each other. Hitha, like the ex-CIA agent that she is, used incredible ninja skills to win.
Families performed. Families danced. Families Sang.
Afterwards, the party moved outside where they had set up a “street vendor” style dinner. It was as if you were walking the streets and there was different vendors with different foods everywhere. As Sri put it: “You get the street food experience without the burning sensation later on in the bathroom”.
There was also an open bar. They had shots. We took them.
